Is being Sincere Sufficient?

          (Rom 10:1-10)

I. It is possible to think you are saved and be lost

A. These people were obviously lost ( v.1)

B. These Jews thought they were saved (v.3)

(Phil 3:4-9)

              A person must realize he is lost before he can get saved.

Sometime I walk around in office building and places of business looking for a place or person until someone ask me if they can help me. I was lost and didn’t know it . I thought I know exactly what I was doing. I did not know I was, lost most people in our world today do not know they are lost.

II. It is possible to be jealous and sincere for the Lord but lost (v.2)

A.  (Matt 7:21-23) Makes this very clear to us.

III. There are basically two ways man seeks to be saved        (v.5 4-7)

A. By keeping the law, (being good),

B   Working their way to heaven, (doing good things)

Look at world religion > Islam >> Major religion 35 country Lout every people are Muslim

Salvation through works promotes self-righteous and accepts Christ as a prophet and Muhammad friend or greatest prophet..

a.   Principle part of their good works is no God but Allah and Muhammad is the prophet of Allah”.

This formula actually makes you a Muslim, which all are good works.

v           Prayer

v           Almsgiving

v           Fasting

v           Abstinence from adultery

v           Abstinence from Alcohol

v           Abstinence from gambling

v           Abstinence from eating of park

v           Be kind to widows

v           Be kind to orphans

1. A pilgrimage to Mecca. 2.Military service in the cause of Allah.3. Dying in battle for Allah, means immediate entrance into heaven and of course all non-Muslim are believed to be condemned eternally.

Hinduism - There ways of heaven

1.          The way of works

2.          The way of Love

3.          The way of knowledge

Buddhism – No heaven just a release from suffering through the four noble truths – the last being the eightfold Path, which consist of things to be done.

Gal (3:10-12) ; James ( 2:10)  

IV. God has only one way of Salvation (v.8-10)

A.   This verse in (Roman 11:6) explains to us the truth.

1.          If by Grace

2.          no more works

3.          if by works

4.          no more grace

(Eph 2:8,9)

Cults are wrong, you can not get to heaven by being good or doing good works.

Works will not get you to Heaven. You must have love, of course only  true love can come from the Savior, who is love

When I was first saved I stated coming to church,  giving, going, and service Him because of the love I have for Jesus. Therefore when He said repent & be baptized I did – I fell in Loved with Jesus. That is what caused me to give, go, and serve, and forsake all.

         A Minister was invited to a partly at the home of a very wealthy young man, afterwards the minister talked about God. I’d like to be a Christian the young man said, If I only knew how.

         Well said the minister “suppose that the Lord Jesus stood there on the other side of the room and said come to me. If you believe Me when I tell you that I died for you and want to save you, then you can come and follow Me.

Then said the young man I would go to Him and fall down before Him and ask Him to save me.

But what if your friends were here in the room and they laughed at you? I wouldn’t care I would go to the Lord Jesus. Well, said the minister the Lord Jesus is really in this room right now although you cannot see Him and He is stretching out His hands to you and saying come. You should believe what He says in His Book the Bible, just as though you heard the words from His own life.
