Father
The First time we come across
the word Father in the Bible is in Gen 2:24 “therefore shall a man
leave His father and mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they
shall be one flesh". This tell me there is a special relationship
between father and children). We find the law of Moses placing children
under an obligation to honor their parents (Ex 20:12). Apostle Paul tells
us this obligation is still binding in (Eph 6:2) “ Honor thy father
and mother; which is the first commandant with promise.” (well &
live long) today is fathers Day, and children and wives are doing that
across our country today. “father we salute you” we have many
examples of fatherhood in the Bible, both good and bad.
We have Eli (I Sam 3:11-14;
4:11,18) He was a leader in Israel, but a failure as a father. Because
of his weaknesses in rebuking his sons it not only cost them their life
by his also.
(I
Kg 2:1-3) >>David charged Solomon
(I
Kg 11:1-4) >> Solomon
keep not the charge 700. The word Christian means Christ like, what does Father
mean.
I.
Father means
Friend
A.
A
father should be a real friend to his children example
Christ, Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his
life for his friends. Ye are my friends, If ye do whatsoever I command
you. (Jo 15:13,14).
B. Children should be able to take problems to their father.
Prov
18:24 says “ a man that hath friends must show himself friendly; and
there is a friend that stickiest closer than a brother”
C.
He should advise them and stick by his children through
everything
One
man remember dad this way
Daddy
Was From The Old’
School
Daddy was from the old
school
He learned his lessons well,
He passed them on to me
I’m not ashamed to tell.
Daddy was from the old school
He worked hard every day,
He didn’t want a handout
With dignity he earned his
pay.
Daddy was from the old school
A mixture of the right stuff,
He knew how to be tender
And he knew how to be tough.
Daddy was from the old school
Big boys weren’t supposed to
cry,
Sometimes he would slip
I’d see tears in his eyes.
Daddy was from the old school
He never took the last piece
of cake,
He would always nod at me
I knew it was mine to take.
Daddy was from the old school
His clothes lasted a long
time,
He bought me the latest
Sometimes spending his last
dime.
Daddy was from the old school
He loved the American way,
He believed in freedom
And guarded it every day.
Daddy was from the old school
I didn’t understand it back
then,
But now I fully see
He was teaching me how to win.
Daddy was from the old school
I guess I am too,
Daddy, thank you for the
lesson
I owe so much to you.

WALK
A LITTLE PLAINER, DADDY
Walk
a little plainer, Daddy
Said
a little boy so frail.
I’m
following in your footsteps
And
I don’t want to fail.
Sometimes
your steps are very plain
Sometimes
they are hard to see.
So
walk a little plainer, Daddy
For
you are leading me.
I
Know that once you walked this way
Many
years ago.
And
what you did a long the way
I’d
really like to know.
For
sometimes when I am temped
I
don’t know what to do.
So
walk a little plainer, Daddy
For
I must follow you.
Someday
when I’m grown up
You
are like I want to be.
Then
I will have a little boy
Who
will want to follow me.
And
I would want to lead him right
And
help him to be true.
So
walk a little plainer, Daddy
For
we must follow you.
