DID JESUS FULFILL PROPHECY?

Today as we start our program I want to start with a question. Did Jesus fulfill     prophecy, concerning the Messiah? Was He the Messiah or is there another one still to come? This world friends has seen many people who has made this claim. There are millions literally millions of people worshiping false messiahs today. Today, I want to use the Bible to prove how only Jesus. I repeats only Jesus, could be this Messiah. Although there has been many people who has made this claim and there is even people alive today who makes this claim. I believe that through this message, if you are looking for the truth, you, will believe that only Jesus could be the Messiah, not a church, , only Jesus. not some other man, not some religion

To begin with friends, Jesus claimed to be the promised Messiah. (Messiah means the anointed one). “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captive, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the accepted time of the Lord.” (Luke. 4:18,19).

The entire Bible is centered on the Messiah God’s anointed one who would take away the sins of the world. The main purpose of the gospel which is recorded in the New Testament was to prove that Jesus was truly the promised Messiah who alone could forgive sins “and many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples which are not written in this book; but these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life through his name.” (John 20:30,31). This was the center of the Epistles of Paul Rom. 1:16 Repent therefore of this of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. (Acts 8:22).

Yes friends you will have a greater appreciation for the Bible, and a greater love for Jesus when you come to a clear understanding of how Jesus fulfilled the scriptures of the Old Testament. Just think Jesus is the subject of over 300 Old Testament prophecies given several hundred years before His birth. In many cases these prophecies preceded their fulfillment by thousands of years.

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to the disciples on the road to Emmaus, and Jesus lifted them from their depression by explaining to them the scriptures. ”Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” (Luke. 24:25-27).

In the same chapter, it is recorded that Jesus appeared to all of His disciples, “and he said unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled who were written in the Law of Moses and in the prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them. Thus it is written, and thus it behaved Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day; and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations. Beginning at Jerusalem.” (Luke. 24:44-47).

I think to get a good picture of the Messiah we need to start at the beginning of the Bible, when God made a promise to Satan. “I will put enmity (deep-rooted hatred, irreconcilable hostility) between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Gen. 3:15).

Friends, God told Satan because of what he done he was going to establish enmity, not only between the serpent and the woman, but also between the human and the serpent race. Friends this is the Bible’s first hint of coming redeemer. The use of He, in verse 15, shows that one person is meant and this person would be from woman and gain victory over Satan. Satan tempted man in the Garden of Eden, whereby man fall bring on him eternal death or spiritual death for eternity, separated from a Holy God his creator. God says there will be a Savior sent for man one who will gain victory or Satan and unite man back to his creator (God). Now as we look through the pages of history we can find only one descendent of Eve. Who was born of Woman without being begotten of man? Here friend, right at the start of the Bible, is a picture of Christ to come, and even plain statements concerning the Messiah. We can see a clear picture of Christ, as we draw closer to the close of the Old Testament. The great apostle Paul tells us in (Gal. 4:4) “but when the fullness of the times was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.” This indicates to me that Jesus was the fulfillment of the prophecy of.  (Gen. 3:15).

We also know that the Messiah would come through a certain bloodline. “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee; and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou salt be a blessing and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee; and in the verse shall all families of the earth be blessed.” (Gen.12: 1-3). “Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him.” (Gen. 18:18). Here we see that Abraham was chosen and blessed by God to be the nation, through which the Messiah would come. The New Testament just revivifies this fact in Acts 3:25, when Peter was speaking to the Jews he said, “ye are the children of the prophets and of the covenant (agreement), which God made with our fathers saying unto Abraham and in thy seed shall all the kindred of the earth be blessed.”

I think one can see from these verses that only a Jews could have possibly been the Savior and not only a Jew but also one with the right linage. He had to come through the seed of Abraham. Yes friends, there has been a lot of people who claimed to be the Messiah. There have been Americans, Philippines, Negroes, Koreans, and Moslems and on and on it goes with the list of people who claimed to be the true Messiah or the final one to come. We had seen so far the Messiah would come and it would only be one man not a woman, and he had to be a descendent of Abraham. Friends God even broke His linage down a little finer. Out of the twelve tribes of Israel the Messiah had to be born from the tribe Judah. “The scepter shall not depart from Judah (a scepter was a rod which was held in hands of kings to indicate authority), nor a law giver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.” Gen. 49: 10. Luke. 3:33 shows Jesus fulfilled this, “which was the son of Amminadad which was the son of Ram, which is the son Hezron, which was the son of Pharez, which was the son Judah.” Isa. 9:7, tells this Messiah will be heir to the throne of David and Luke 1:32,33, says “He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his fathers David; and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Yes friends I think God has made it very clear, who this Messiah is. Goad tells us in Micah 5:2, where this Messiah will be born. “but thou, Bethlehem Ephrata, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel whose going forth have been from of old, everlasting.” This not only tells where He will be born but, that He always was and always will be Praise God for that friends. Matt. Tells us that Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king – Now let us take a look at the supernatural prophecy concerning the birth of the Messiah. This prophecy gives us a picture of the incarnated God, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold; a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isa. 7: 14). Friends, Immanuel means, ‘God with us’. Luke. 1:26,27,30,31, tells us that Jesus was the fulfillment to that prophecy, Jesus not Mohammad, not Buddha, not Felix Manalo, not Rev. Moon, but Jesus, Jesus, the God man who was from old everlasting Amen, Praise Hallelujah.

Matt. 1:18 say, “When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.” Yes friends, there is a lot of people going around saying that Jesus was only a man and not God man. Dear friends that contradicts the Bible, because Gen. 1:26 says everything produces after its kind and this verse says God was Jesus’ Father, friend that makes Him the God-man, born of woman, not of the will of man. His going forth was from old to everlasting. After looking at these prophecies I think you can clearly see the Messiah, the God-man Jesus, who takes away the sins of the world, friends prophecy, does not end with His birth, it also tells how His people would treat him. “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hide as it were our faces from him, he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” (Isa. 53:3). Did Jesus do these things, was His life lived like prophesied! Was He Jesus the Messiah? “He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believed on his name.” (John 1:11,12). Yes friends, people are still rejecting Jesus today. There are some of you who are reading this right now, have never trusted this Jesus as your personal Savior. You never have really believed on him because of the many false teachers in this country. These cults which quoted two or three verses trying to get you to believe Jesus was not the Messiah; and start believing in their founder is the real Messiah. DO NOT believe them believe the Bible today

Friends a lot of people believed Jesus to be the true Messiah and He is! After Jesus’ resurrection, his disciples were so convinced that He was the promised Messiah; they turned the world upside down. They were willing to live for him and die for Him. Friends Jesus is the Messiah; He is the Christ of the Old Testament.

The angels declare it (Luke. 2:10-11) and even the Devil declare it in (Luke. 4:41). John the Baptist declares it in (John 1:29). Martha declares it in (John 11:27) and even Nature declares it in Luke. (19:37-40) and last dear precious friend. The Bible declaring it to you “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and every one that loveth him that begat loveth Him also that is begotten of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments (I John 5:1,2). What about you dear friend, do you declare it, have you repented of your sins? If you love God and want salvation, He commands you to repent of your sins. Surely this message has stirred your hearts with the desire to know this Jesus, the God-man as Lord of your life. Friends, ask Him to forgive you and will forgive you of your sins adopting you into His family you can become a child of the highest God. Because “The wages of sin is death”, but Jesus paid the price for you. Turn to Jesus today. Because He loves you friends that why He die, turn to Him today.
